The Role
The Warehouse and Distribution Manager leads an integrated team of APS, ADF and Industry Partners responsible for delivering Defence capability outcomes to support the ADF meet their operational responsibilities.
This senior management position is responsible for monitoring contracted service delivery outcomes provided by the national Warehouse and Distribution Industry Partner Linfox and the national Clothing Store Industry Partner Ventia. The contract oversight includes Key Performance Indicator (KPI) achievement, service delivery, forecasting activity levels and negotiating with stakeholders to identify risks.
In addition, this position is responsible for Inventory Management. This includes ensuring all requirements are actioned within required timeframes, inclusive of governance and compliance. The JLU(NQ) inventory encompass loan and equipment pools, consumables and repair parts, combat rations, return stores and disposals

The Joint Logistics Unit (North Queensland) is Townsville based, located at the largest defence base in Australia, Lavarack Barracks. JLU(NQ) is a mixed military and civilian, organisation that delivers a range of logistic services to Australian Defence Force elements operating across North Queensland. JLU(NQ)'s functions include distribution, warehousing, materiel maintenance, inventory management, regional distribution, supply, and clothing services It also provides logistic advice and support to other government agencies and allied foreign forces on occasions.
Our Ideal Candidate
The Warehouse and Distribution Manager is a vital link between the supply and warehousing functions and; procurement and maintenance activities of JLU(NQ) dependencies. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and have extensive experience in logistics and contract service delivery, including planning and forecasting new projects.
They will have very good written and verbal communication skills and experience in stakeholder management. They will have extensive experience in inventory management, warehousing and logistics. The successful candidate will have a proven track record as a Manager of a medium size team and desire to improve themselves and others.
